1. More Worksheets
While free members continue to have access to worksheets, these worksheets will be limited to one or two worksheets per topic. As we build on the worksheet collection, only the premium members will get access to these additional worksheets.
2. Answer Keys
Each worksheet will have its corresponding answer key which would make it more easy and convenient to check your child’s answers. This is especially helpful for higher elementary subjects such as Filipino, Science, Araling Panlipunan and Math.
3. Online Worksheets
With online worksheets, there’s no need to print worksheets and even correct your child’s answers. These self-correcting online worksheets will not be on every topic but will be on topics that we think practice and mastery is really needed. This is also great when you are away from your printer and/or accessing the website through a mobile device/tablet. Online worksheets will only be offered to Premium Members.
4. Thematic worksheets
We realized that our worksheets seem to be very traditional or very school-like and we don’t want our children to just think of Schoolkid.Ph worksheets as a bore, right? So each month, premium members will get access to one thematic unit which includes a short lesson of a particular topic (ex: Ang Pilipinas) and fun printable worksheets to go with it.

As you go through the pages of Schoolkid.Ph this month of May, you will notice some changes happening. We’ve started the changes in the Preschool Worksheets. This will be happening within the entire month of May. That is why now until May 30, we are offering the premium subscription at an introductory price of only Php249 per calendar year, instead of the regular price of Php499 per calendar year.

Here in the Philippines, breastfeeding is widely promoted too, both by the public and private sector. However, the reason behind this is primarily due to the high nutritional content of breastmilk that gives great health benefits to a child. A secondary reason is the attachment or bond that is formed between the mother and child.

I have no issues about breastfeeding and all my boys were breastfed when they were infants. I did it for both reasons I stated above. In fact, I breastfed one of them until he was 3 years old. I was fortunate to be able to produce milk that long so I thought might as well continue giving it to my child.

So, in a way, I suppose I was like that mom on the Time cover. So it didn’t shock me to know about her breastfeeding her 3yr old son. What did shock me though is seeing the son being breastfed in standing position because it is such weird position to breastfeed a child.

It is obviously just for photo’s sake and I’m even thinking it was meant really to shock people and make them take a double-look on the cover. True enough, according to Yahoo, Time managing editor, Rick Stengel, admits that the photo was to get attention.

This is normal though, in case you’re wondering. Sure, not many moms breastfeed after their child is 6 months to 1 year but there are those who do. I’ve even met a mother who was still breastfeeeding her 5-yr old son.

The Caption
But do you know what to me is off with this cover? the caption – “Are you Mom Enough?“. Seriously? I think I’m mom enough regardless of how I breastfed my kids. If I was only able to breastfeed for a few months, I’d still be mom enough. If I was unable to breastfeed my kids, I’d still be mom enough. If I chose not to breastfeed at all, I’d still be mom enough.

As I said, my reason for breastfeeding my son that long was simply because I was still producing milk. I’d be honest to say that it was not for the attachment or bond that breastfeeding creates. I have my lifetime to have those bonding moments with my children.

You know, parenting is hard enough and even frustrating at times. We are presented with many schools of thought in parenting, but none of them can claim that their parenting way is what will make THE mom. As long as we raise happy, responsible, caring and loving kids then whatever way we choose to achieve it, we can all be great mothers (great dads too, for that matter). There are no rules.

Now, I’m thinking what Time would put up on their cover for Father’s Day.

What is a Supermoon?

There are two things about the moon that we know are relevant to it being a phenomenon called Supermoon. First, we know that the moon experiences several phases and that it is brightest when it is in its in a full phase. Second, we know that the moon travels in an elliptical orbit around the earth. So there are times when it is closer to the Earth. A Supermoon occurs when the moon is both at its full phase and closest to the Earth. The effect is that we see the moon larger and brighter.

For this year, the Supermoon is expected to occur this weekend, on May 5th 11 at around 11:35 pm, said the the Philippine Astronomical Society as reported by ABS-CBN News.

As a bonus, if you have a high tech telescope or camera, you might also get to chance the eta Aquarid display of meteor shower. The said meteor shower has been ongoing since April 19 and will end on May 28. However, it is expected to peak at 60 meteors per hour on May 5, this according to Yahoo News.

So, you might be still thinking, “You’ll really be charging Php499 for more access to your website?”
The answer is yes, really, for three main reasons. First, since October 2011, the website had to be moved to a hybrid server when the simple shared server couldn’t keep up with the load required by this website. Second, the time has become ripe for Schoolkid.Ph to offer more than just printable worksheets so there are costs involved too in getting the resources for these extra offerings. Third, a portion of the subscription fee will be allocated to our “Schoolkits For Schoolkids” outreach projects where we give out schoolkits and worksheets to selected public school students.

With all the above, a Php499 per year fee really is really a very reasonable price (similar websites charge US$20 for less offerings, by the way). So make it even a better deal by applying by taking advantage of the introductory price of Php249!
