Schoolkid.Ph

Today marks the 3rd anniversary of Schoolkid.Ph and I’m happy.

I want to take this moment and thank all of you who have visited this site, especially those who have been visiting it regularly. Even for those who have just recently found about this website, thank you and I hope that you do find this site useful and soon become a regular visitor.

I remember those first few months of Schoolkid.Ph, I was already happy seeing 120 unique visits logged on my website.  Last month, I had about 8,458 unique visits and 1,037,632 page hits… remarkable increase, don’t you think?

On the website’s first year, the site was crudely made using a simple HTML editor. I had no idea how many people use my website.  I see movement on the number of visits the site log but they remain just numbers. Still, I kept on sharing my own worksheets.

When I upgraded the website last year, I moved to the WordPress platform and included a registration to give me a better idea on how many people use the site. There are more than 5,500 members registered now on Schoolkid.Ph.

Instead of adding a forum on the website, I decided to make a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/schoolkidph) so that I can connect to the users and interact with them. I’m glad to have reached 1,000 likes, just a few days ago actually. This may be a small number compared to many Facebook pages out there but I’m already happy about it because I’ve never really campaigned on getting people to ‘Like’ the page just to drive the numbers up.  What I do wish though is that more of the Schoolkid.Ph registered users join the Facebook page as well.  So, if you haven’t clicked ‘Like’ on the Schoolkid.Ph page on Facebook yet, please do so.

Well, time flies when you’re having fun.  Yes, I do have fun with Schoolkid.Ph.  It’s a lot of effort of time, money and will for me and it does stress me a bit sometimes. But when each time I get a thoughtful note of appreciation for creating the site, my worries drift away.  I have always been encouraged by those of you who take time to drop a note on Facebook or email to thank me or to tell me your kids. Heck, even those not-so-thoughtful notes (six months into the website, I got an email saying how ugly my site was) kept me motivated to improve the site.

So, what’s up next?  Lots.  Expect a big addition to the site.  I call it Schoolkid.v3.0 and coming very, very soon.

So, again, thank you, my dear visitors. Your support, enthusiasm and friendship have contributed very much to Schoolkid.Ph’s success.
