Schoolkid.Ph v3.0

Posted on: August 9th, 2011 by

This is the 3rd improvement of Schoolkid.Ph and boy am I so glad that this particular project has finally gone live! The general “look” of the website is the same with a very distinct difference. Take a look at what’s new to the Schoolkid.Ph website —

1. Grade 5 level worksheets

I’ve started to upload worksheets for Grade 5 (as this is the grade level of my eldest now). I should be able to complete them in 2-3 days in time for review for the first quarter exams. It’s getting really hard to make worksheets at this level but my son really needs the practice, especially for Singapore Math.

Ever since my sons’ school has shifted to Singapore Math and Science, I was no longer able to make worksheets for the traditional math. I will, however, try to make up for that. It may not be very soon, but if it will still help the majority, I’d do it.

2. SHOP!

This is the first thing that will surely catch your eye upon logging in – another tab added to the menu – Shop! The website now has an online shop that will be very soon filled with kid-related and education-related products that you will want to check out.

The products are categorized into the following –

  • Manipulatives
  • Math
  • Reading&Language
  • Active Play
  • Dramatic Play
  • Toys & Games
  • Motivational Items
  • Personalized Prints
  • Teaching Aids

Ordering is easy! Just click on the “Add To Cart” button and the item automatically gets placed in your shopping cart that will be seen on the right sidebar. After you’ve added all the items, check that you agree to the Terms and Conditions, then click “Proceed To Checkout”.  You’ll be sent to a page where you will have fill-up your contact information and confirm your order. Once you’ve confirmed the order, you’ll receive an email about it.  Wait for us to send you an invoice and payment instructions. Once paid, your items will be delivered to you within 1-2 days.  It’s that easy!

I’ll explain more about the Shop! in another post. But please do remember that portion of the proceeds will go to the operation and maintenance of the website as well as the Schoolkits For Schoolkids project.  So, please, please, support the Shop!

3. New Member Plugin

If you’re already a subscriber of Schoolkid.Ph, you shouldn’t have a problem logging in as usual.  The way to update your profile is different now but made much simpler. To go to your profile, just click on “Edit Profile” on the member account box on the right sidebar.

The registration process and password recover should be easier than before.  If you are still having problems logging in, kindly report it to us by email at info@schoolkid.ph

4. Search Toolbar – improved!

The search toolbar now includes a Category dropdown menu.  This allows you to look for specific worksheets. I’m currently updating the tags and and categories of the worksheets to give better search results.

5. Twitter and Facebook

Interaction with you is important to me. So I’ve been working hard to be more active in these two popular social networks, Facebook and Twitter.

The Schoolkid.Ph page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/schoolkidph) is used not only for posting quick updates about the website but it also allows me to get feedback from you. I would love to hear from you. So, if you’re not on our Facebook page yet, please do “Like” us.

If you follow me on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/schoolkidph), you will get to have bits of the personal side of me.  It’s a more casual setting that I try create in the twitter world of Schoolkid.Ph where I can just tweet about bits and pieces of what interests me, website related or not.

6. Schoolkits For Schoolkids section – coming soon!

The past Schoolkits For Schoolkids projects have brought happiness to me and made me realize how giving, especially to children, can be addictive! So, I’m making this a permanent part of Schoolkid.Ph.

I’ll be taking out the Word of the Day box on the home page and replace it with Schoolkits For Schoolkids.  You’ll be able to read about the outreach projects that we’ve done and keep you updated on our future outreach projects.

So, those are the new things on this Ver. 3.0 of Schoolkid.Ph. I really do hope that it is an improvement. Again, thank you for making Schoolkid.Ph a success. You support is what motivates me to keep this website up, free and improved.

“Let’s all help our children do well in school.”
