Enjoying Eat-All-You-Can buffet with the kids
It has been a long time since we went to a buffet restaurant as a family. With three small kids, we’ve always thought that it wouldn’t be worth the money to bring them to such place since they still eat little and may not enjoy the variety of food offered at these places. Well, we were wrong!
It was one Saturday when I had a craving for Filipino food. The entire family went malling that day at Trinoma for a bit of shopping and movie-watching. With the visions of Kuhol sa Gata and sisig rumbling my tummy, I just had to persuade my husband to get us to one of two Filipino buffet restaurants at the mall.
It took as while to choose between the two since we had to see the food offered first. Our youngest son is a picky eater and I had to make sure there was something he could eat in there. We ended up in Cabalen, a Filipino-Kapampangan restaurant, which had a higher buffet price but offers half-price for kids Plus, after seeing my youngest son, offered free buffet for him. Deal!

This is what set Cabalen apart from the other Filipino buffet restaurant, the Lechon de Leche and Pritson.
The sisig, of course… you can’t be in a Kapampangan restaurant without having this..
We were happy that the kids enjoyed their meal and my two older boys even sampled unknown dishes like the Kuhol sa Gata..
My picky-eater son got the best deal out of this buffet as he enjoyed crunchy Lechon de Leche skin..
The Halo-Halo bar was a great treat…
I enjoyed the sampelot (guinataan), all the while remembering my childhood vacations in Tarlac.
With the kiddie half-price and the free buffet offered, our total bill came out just the same as if we went to a regular restaurant. So, if you’ve been shying away for the buffet restaurants, try this one out. Filipino buffet is cheaper than in other cuisine buffet. It will also give your kids to get adventurous and taste new flavors.
